The six-year veteran Jeremy Lin has agreed in in principle to sign a new contract with the Nets, announcing the pending move on his Twitter page where he has 1.8 million followers Friday.

Lin's deal is figured to pay him $36 million over three years, according to ESPN NBA Insider Marc Stein. The price point is what many estimated but fall short of the five-year, $120 million deal his former Charlotte teammate Nicolas Batum pulled down, and on par with 24-year-old Lakers guard Jordan Clarkson (four-years, $50 million), a player perceived to have far more upside.
Lin averaged 11.7 points to go along with three assists and 3.2 rebound per game in his lone season in the Queen City, playing behind starter Kemba Walker, who had a breakout 2015-16, going for 20.9 points, 5.2 assists and 4.4 rebounds. Walker finished second behind Portland's C.J. McCollum for the league's Most Improved Player award.
The Hornets went 48-34 in the regular season to finish sixth in the Eastern Conference before falling in seven to the third-seeded Heat in the first round of the playoffs after taking a 3-2 lead. The Nets were 21-61 last season.
Brooklyn will be the fifth franchise the 27-year-old Lin has played for. The undrafted Harvard product has also had stints with the Warriors, Rockets, Knicks and Lakers.
