According to a report by ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Valanciunas has declined a player option for next season thus paving the way to become an unrestricted free agent.

After spending the first six full seasons of his career with the Raptors, Valanciunas was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies as part of the deal which sent Marc Gasol to Toronto. Relegated primarily to a bench role to begin the season with the Raptors after starting in all but five of his appearances over the previous six seasons, Valanciunas took advantage of his opportunity for a bigger role with the Grizzlies.

He wasted no time making his presence felt with his new team, scoring 23 points on 9-11 shooting to go along with 10 rebounds in his debut back on February 13. Valanciunas went on to average 19.9 points and 10.7 rebounds per game in 19 games with Memphis. Despite playing under 28 minutes per game with his new team, Valanciunas was the Grizzlies' second-leading scorer after his debut trailing only Mike Conley.
