The 76ers, as expected, made Australian native and former LSU forward Ben Simmons the first overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft on Thursday.
Simmons is the first No. 1 pick by Philadelphia since the franchise selected Hall of Fame guard Allen Iverson in 1996. Simmons averaged 19.2 points, 11.8 rebounds, 4.8 assists and two steals per game his lone season in Baton Rouge.
The Sixers also own the 24th and 26th overall picks in the draft and are expected to pursue trades as well.
