Minnesota Timberwolves end 13-season playoff drought with victory over Nuggets in OT image

After 13 long seasons, the Minnesota Timberwolves have punched their ticket back into playoffs.

The T-Wolves escaped game 82 of the season with a 112-106 overtime win over the Denver Nuggets on Thursday (AEDT).

Jimmy Butler who was acquired in the off-season for these moments finished with a team-high 31 points, five rebounds and five assists.

Karl Anthony-Towns had his league leading 68th double-double of the year with 26 points, 14 rebounds. Andrew Wiggins sealed the game with two of the biggest freethrows of his NBA career giving him 18 points on the night.

For Towns and Wiggins, it will be their first time in the post-season.

Minnesota will be the eighth seed when the playoffs begin on Sunday (AEDT) and they'll visit the Houston Rockets.

With the loss, Denver was officially eliminated from the playoffs.

Nikola Jokic led the way in the must-win game for the visitors finishing with a game-high 35 points, 10 rebounds.
