Magic Johnson says Lavar Ball won't affect Lakers draft strategy image

Lakers boss Magic Johnson says LaVar Ball, the controversial father of projected lottery pick Lonzo, will not factor in L.A's draft plans.

Virtually every mock draft matches the UCLA star to the Lakers, who have a 15.6 percent chance of winning the lottery.

When asked by ESPN if LaVar Ball's grandiose personality would prevent the team from selecting his son, Johnson said, "not at all."

Lonzo Ball, a 6-6 point guard, is an intriguing prospect who's been compared to Jason Kidd. Ball is described as unselfish on the court with a low-key personality. LaVar Ball, on the other hand, is seen as a potential constant headache for Lonzo's future employers.

Among LaVar's more outrageous pronouncements was asking for a $1 billion endorsement deal for his three sons (LiAngelo and LaMelo are young prospects) and the recent launch of a $495 shoe via his Big Baller Brand.

The NBA Draft Lottery will be held May 17 (AEDT).
