In the aftermath of Cleveland's roster overhaul, LeBron James was left with a number of new teammates as he tries to lead the Cavs back to the NBA Finals. Instead of complaining, James got straight to business Saturday, taking responsibility for getting his new teammates up to speed.
"It's my job to get these guys integrated as fast as possible," James said, via ESPN.com. "I know the coaching staff and (coach) T Lue is going to do it, as well, but it's my job to get these guys on the same page with us where we want to accomplish what we want to do. I look forward to getting them here. ... All four of them are pretty smart guys, and it should be fun."
The Cavs acquired guard Jordan Clarkson and forward Larry Nance Jr. from the Lakers, guard Rodney Hood from the Jazz and guard George Hill from the Kings. They lost Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Channing Frye, Dwyane Wade, Iman Shumpert and Derrick Rose.
"I think we became a younger team, more athletic. We added some more shooting as well. So, we'll have to see how it meshes," James said. "I like the pieces that we have coming in."
Even though Thomas' tenure with the Cavs wasn't a success, James wished the point guard well while he tries to recover his strength following a hip injury.
"I want Isaiah to get his bounce back, get his spring back, get healthy," James said. "You know, being out seven months is difficult for anybody. I just felt like he was playing behind the 8-ball. ... I wish the best for him. In L.A. right now and his future, I want him to get that bounce back, get that spring back."
