LeBron James' Cleveland Cavaliers stay was finally confirmed on Friday as the star signed what was reported to be a two-year deal.

The four-time NBA MVP opted out of his Cavs contract in June, but was always expected to re-sign.

And James' re-signing was confirmed by the losing NBA finalists on Friday, a deal reportedly worth $46.9million.

"LeBron's re-signing today is a reflection and continuation of his strong, personal commitment to help deliver championships to Northeast Ohio and Cavs fans everywhere," Cavs general manager David Griffin said in a statement.

"We share this deep level of commitment with him. His impact upon this team, his community and the game are impossible to overstate and we look forward to continuing on our mission together."

A two-time NBA champion with the Miami Heat, James returned to Cleveland in 2014.

James helped the Cavs to the NBA Finals, in which they were beaten 4-2 by the Golden State Warriors.

The Cavs also announced the signing of free agent guard Mo Williams.
