LeBron James is getting back into the entertainment business, but this time he’s behind the scenes.

The Hollywood Reporter revealed Wednesday (AEDT) that James will produce a reboot of early-'90s film franchise “House Party” alongside Maverick Carter, his agent and business partner at SpringHill Entertainment.
“Atlanta” writers Stephen Glover (the younger brother of Donald Glover) and Jamal Olori are writing the screenplay.
“This is definitely not a reboot. It’s an entirely new look for a classic movie,” James told The Hollywood Reporter. “Everyone I grew up with loved ‘House Party.’ To partner with this creative team to bring a new ‘House Party’ to a new generation is unbelievable.”
The original “House Party” franchise featured rappers Kid and Play as high school friends throwing, you guessed it, a house party. Several iconic actors and musical artists made cameos in the previous series — something Carter hopes to continue.
“We’re trying out some ideas for musicians to be cast in and to be a part of the project,” Carter said, adding James may be in line for an appearance. “There’s no plan for it now, but he’s a fantastic actor, and if he wants a role, Stephen (Glover) will find a great role to put him in.”
No timeline for release was given in the report.
