Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant will not be in attendance for the 2022 NBA All-Star game following the death of his grandmother.

After amassing the most votes in the Eastern Conference, Durant a team captain, was already sidelined from the game due to injury. However, he was set to be a part of the 75th Anniversary celebration at halftime of Sunday's game, honoring the members of the NBA75 team.

Durant's mother Wanda announced on Instagram the passing of her mother Barbara.
"It is with great sadness that we share with family and friends that our Dear Sweet Mama, BARBARA A. Davis, transitioned early this morning," Wanda Durant wrote. "Words can not describe how our family feels doing this time. We want to thank everyone for their prayers, condolences, and well wishes. God is GOOD and His PEACE comforts all of us."

Durant is currently sidelined with a sprained MCL which he suffered against the New Orleans Pelicans on January 15. He was initially given a timeframe of 4-to-6 weeks to return to the court, but there is still no official timetable for his return.
