Coming into Saturday clash with the Dallas Mavericks, Joe Ingles was just two 3-pointers shy of passing John Stockton for first place on the Utah Jazz's all-time 3-pointers made list.
Ingles sat at 844 triples and splashed home two threes in the first quarter of Saturday's 120-101 blowout win over the Mavs leapfrogging Stockton for sole possession of first place. Stockton nailed 845 threes in his career in 1504 games. It took Ingles less than 500 games to grab hold of the lead.
1. | Joe Ingles | 846 |
2. | John Stockton | 845 |
3. | Gordon Hayward | 689 |
4. | Donovan Mitchell | 606 |
5. | Bryon Russell | 540 |
6. | Darrell Griffith | 530 |
7. | Mehmet Okur | 517 |
8. | Deron Williams | 511 |

10. | Rodney Hood | 439 |
Stockton, who was known as a three-point shooter in his time in the NBA, finished his career shooting 38.4 percent from deep taking 1.5 attempts for his career. Ingles has never averaged less than 2.6 threes in a season has a career attempt average of 4.2 three per game hitting at a 40.8 percent clip. My, how times have changed.
With this triple, Joe Ingles passes John Stockton for the most threes made in @utahjazz franchise history!

Ingles will need to keep knocking down long balls if he plans on holding onto the lead for quite some time, his teammate Donovan Mitchell has already begun his ascent on the Jazz's all-time 3-pointers made list. Mitchell currently sits fourth on the list less than 100 threes away from catching Gordon Hayward who sits in third. Mitchell has nailed at least 173 threes each year since coming into the league and it won't be long before he has Ingles in his sights for the top spot.
The Aussie also has a chance to make a move on the Jazz's all-time assists leaders this season as well. Ingles currently sits eighth on the list with a real chance of passing both Pete Maravich and Jeff Hornacek this year. Andrei Kirilenko who sits fifth might even be in play this season barring any major interruptions in Ingles' season.
All in all, Ingles is leaving a legacy in Utah many wouldn't have predicted from the onset. Not bad for a battler from Adelaide.
