Jaylen Brown injury update: Celtics offer timeline for return from adductor strain for All-Star image

The Celtics were dealt a midseason blow with the news that Jaylen Brown would miss time with an injury.

As first reported by ESPN's Tim Bontemps, news of Brown's came just hours ahead of the game between Eastern Conference leaders as the Celtics entered one game up in the loss column.

Brown is enjoying an All-Star-caliber season, averaging 27.2 points and 7.1 rebounds per game, both career highs. Before this latest setback, Brown had appeared in 40 of 42 games this season.

Here's everything we know about Brown's injury, including preliminary reports on how long he'll be out.

What is Jaylen Brown's injury?

After scoring 41 points in Boston's win over the New Orleans Pelicans Brown said he tweaked his groin and was listed as questionable on the injury report.

Mazzulla then confirmed on Thursday that Brown's injury is an adductor strain.

How long will Jaylen Brown be out with injury?

Brown will make his return on Thursday, Jan. 19 for the Celtics' 2022 NBA Finals rematch against the Warriors, the team says.

On Jan. 12, Mazzulla estimated Brown would be out for "probably a week or two", but also stated the team was still evaluating how long Brown would sit out. "I know he tried to give it a go today and wasn't able to do it. We'll know more the next couple of days."

The team provided an update on Jan. 18, sharing that Brown had gone through a full practice and that his status for Boston's meeting with Golden State on Jan. 19 is to be determined.

It appears the All-Star guard is ready ahead of schedule, set to suit up against the Warriors.

Celtics schedule 2022-23

Despite Brown's absence, the Celtics have still found ways to win. Boston enters Thursday's Finals rematch on a seven-game win streak.
