The Celtics could be forced to continue their recent stretch of impressive play without star guard Jaylen Brown.
Brown went down with an apparent ankle injury In the first quarter of a win over the Hawks on Tuesday. It looked and sounded gruesome in the moment, but he was able to walk off under his own power before being ruled out for the remainder of the game.

As he was attempting to drive down the lane, Brown stepped on the foot of Hawks forward De'Andre Hunter. The injury was diagnosed as a right ankle sprain.

According to Celtics head coach Ime Udoka, Brown tested his ankle in the locker room and attempted to return to play, but the team held him out as a precautionary measure with the bigger picture in mind.

How long will Jaylen Brown be out with injury?
As expected, Brown is already ruled out for Thursday's showdown against the Memphis Grizzlies.

Per Udoka, Brown will be evaluated over the next couple of days, meaning his status is likely day-to-day for the Celtics' upcoming games.

Brown, 25, is averaging 23.2 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game this season. Boston, which improved to 37-27 with the win over Atlanta, has 18 games remaining in the regular season and is now within three games of the East's No. 2 seed.
