Australian Jack McVeigh is enjoying a strong start in a Rockets uniform, coming up clutch in their 122-113 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder in pre-season.
In just his second game, McVeigh produced a buzzer-beating jumper off Jermaine Samuels Jr.'s intentional free-throw miss with 1.6 seconds on the clock to tie things up at 106-106 sending the game into overtime.
He wasn't done there.
With 16 seconds remaining in the extra period and the Rockets leading by six points, the former Tasmania JackJumper knocked down his lone triple of the night to ice the win for Houston.
In just eight minutes on court McVeigh made his presence felt, finishing with seven points and four rebounds, going 3-of-4 from the field and 1-of-2 from the 3-point line. The Rockets were a +14 in the minutes he played.
Houston is now 1-1 in pre-season, with their next game coming on Wednesday, October 16 (11:00 a.m. AEDT) against the New Orleans Pelicans.
