It turns out Gregg Popovich's best coaching move of the night was removing himself for the game.

The Spurs beat the Timberwolves 101-95 despite playing the second half without their head coach, who was ejected after walking onto the court to argue with officials.

Popovich's ejection came with 1:13 remaining in the second quarter. He picked up two technical fouls in rapid succession after an Andrew Wiggins bucket gave the Timberwolves a 47-45 lead.

The first technical came from official Lauren Holtkamp after Popovich yelled at her as he walked to the baseline in front of the Spurs' bench. That prompted Popovich to walk well onto the court, where he was restrained under the basket by his assistants as he continued to shout at Holtkamp. At that point, referee James Capers gave him the second technical and ejected him.

The Spurs, who had six players score in double figures, outscored the Timberwolves 51-43 in the second half. They improved to 27-6 overall and 18-0 at home.
