Giannis Antetokounmpo has a decision to make in the offseason.

While it's only been three years since he signed a max extension with the Bucks, the two-time MVP is eligible to sign another extension this summer.

The Bucks enter the offseason with a lot of questions after losing to the No. 8 seeded Heat in the first round of the 2023 NBA Playoffs. Not only could both Khris Middleton and Brook Lopez be free agents, but there's skepticism that Mike Budenholzer will return as head coach.

The day after Milwaukee's loss to Miami, ESPN's Brian Windhorst said on NBA Today that he thinks it's "unlikely" Antetokounmpo extends his contract this offseason.

What is Antetokounmpo's contract situation? Here are the full details.

Giannis Antetokounmpo contract details

Antetokounmpo signed a five-year, $228 million supermax extension with the Bucks in 2020. His extension includes a $51.9 million player option for the 2025-26 season, giving him the choice of being an unrestricted free agent after the 2024-25 season.

If Antetokounmpo declines his player option for the 2025-26 season, he will be an unrestricted free agent the same summer that the NBA is set to sign a new TV deal. The existing TV deal pays the NBA $2.6 billion per year, per USA Today's Jeff Zillgitt. The next TV deal is expected to increase, which would impact player salaries.

If Antetokounmpo picks up his player option for the 2025-26 season, he will be an unrestricted free agent in the 2026 offseason.

Antetokounmpo is set to earn $45.6 million in 2023-24 and $48.8 million in 2024-25.

Through the 2022-23 season, Antetokounmpo has made $188,837,362 in his NBA career.

The Bucks selected Antetokounmpo with the No. 15 pick in the 2013 NBA Draft. He has career averages of 22.6 points, 9.6 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 1.3 blocks per game, earning him seven All-Star selections, six All-NBA selections, five All-Defensive selections and two MVP awards.
