Egypt’s Jana El Alfy to participate at NBA Global Academy in Australia image

Egypt’s Jana El Alfy will become just the second female prospect to participate in the Elite Basketball Development Training Program at NBA Global Academy in Australia.

The program runs from Feb. 16 – March 12 at the NBA Global Academy, an elite basketball training center at Basketball Australia’s Centre of Excellence in Canberra, Australia.

El Alfy, who is just 16, will be the second female prospect from the NBA Academy Women’s Program and first female prospect from Africa to participate in the short-term basketball development camp at the NBA Global Academy, which serves as the NBA’s hub for top prospects from outside the U.S.

“I am excited to train at NBA Global Academy and can’t wait to travel to Australia,” said El Alfy. “This will be my first visit to the country and I have heard a lot about Australia’s rich basketball tradition. I am looking forward to working with my peers and coaches and taking this exciting next step in my basketball journey.”

NBA Global Academy serves as the NBA’s hub for top prospects from outside the U.S. Basketball Australia’s Centre of Excellence is the premier training center and team for Australia’s top male and female basketball prospects, and has hosted current NBA and WNBA players including Patty Mills (Brooklyn Nets), Joe Ingles (Portland Trail Blazers) and Liz Cambage (Las Vegas Aces) and former NBA players Aron Baynes, Dante Exum and Matthew Dellavedova.
