Derrick Rose isn't finished with the NBA just yet.

The Cavaliers announced Tuesday (AEDT) that the veteran guard will resume treatment on his injured ankle in Cleveland effective immediately, making what it calls "the next step" in Rose's return to the team.
Rose has played in only seven of the Cavs' 23 games this season due to the injury and had left the team Thanksgiving weekend. In his absence, ESPN cited sources saying Rose was uncertain if he wanted to continue his career.
That option apparently is off the table for the 2011 NBA MVP — who hasn't played more than 66 games in a regular season since that triumphant campaign with the Bulls.
“This has been a very challenging and difficult time for Derrick," Cavs general manager Koby Altman said in a release. "We will continue to provide him with support and have patience as he rejoins his teammates and works his way back on to the court.”
The timetable for Rose's return from injury remains unclear, but there's no rush from a team perspective with the Cavs riding an 11-game winning streak entering Tuesday's game against the Bulls.
