James finished with eight points on 21.4 percent shooting. While the efficiency wasn't there, it was James' best scoring performance this summer.

Final score: Rockets 99, Lakers 80

  • Minutes: 27
  • Points: 8
  • Rebounds: 5
  • Assists: 0
  • Steals: 2
  • Blocks: 0
  • TOs: 3
  • Fouls: 2
  • FG-FGA: 3-14 (21.4%)
  • 3P-3PA: 0-8 (0.0%)

James was much more assertive in this one but still could not get into a groove offensively. His eight points are the most he's scored since summer action began but he was 3 of 14 from the field and an especially harrowing 0 of 8 from 3-point range.

Defensively, James again made his presence felt. Using his lateral quickness and wingspan, he has shown the ability to be a disruptor on the defensive end.

The Lakers have still failed to register a win in the summer, but they'll be back in action in two days.

Bronny James highlights vs. Rockets

James was especially assertive early on, getting on the board first with a strong right-hand drive to the basket.

He put his athleticism on display later in the first quarter. A smart cut led to a one-handed jam assisted by fellow rookie Dalton Knecht.
