On Friday (AEDT), Simmons became the third rookie in NBA history to record 1000 points, 500 rebounds, 500 assists.

Oscar Roberston and Magic Johnson are the only two rookies who had done it before the Aussie joined them.

Earlier this week the 21-year-old recorded his 7th triple-double of the season tying Lakers' legend Johnson . On Friday he passed Magic with his eighth triple-double of the season finishing with 13 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists.

It was the first time he recorded consecutive triple-doubles joining a list of Spurs' legend David Robinson (1990), Jason Kidd (1995), Antonie Walker (1997) and Elfrid Payton (2015) as the only rookies in the last 30 years to achieve the mark.

He is also the first 76ers player to record a triple-double in consecutive games since Andre Iguodala in March 2011.

Simmons has 15 games with Friday's 118-110 win over the New York Knicks now in the books to distance himself from Johnson. Robertson who accumulated 26 triple-doubles in his first season cannot be caught by the Sixers' point guard.

After missing the entire season last year, the Melbourne native is averaging 16.2 points, 7.7 rebounds, 7.6 assists in 34.6 minutes.
