The NBA’s D-League, by design, is built for players on the up and up. But one former NBA All-Star hopes it will lead to a comeback.
Baron Davis, twice named an All-Star in his 13 NBA seasons, is expected to sign a contract to play in the developmental league, according to his agent.
"He is looking forward to playing in the D-League and showing teams what he is capable of," agent Todd Ramasar told Yahoo Sports on Tuesday . "He feels that the timing is right. More than anything Baron has put in the training and is confident in his body. He feels he is ready to return to the NBA."
Davis, 36, said last summer that he was interested in getting back in the league, claiming that he could " play about 20 minutes a game ." He last played with the Knicks in 2012, averaging 20.5 minutes per game.
The third overall pick of the 1999 NBA Draft, Davis played for the Hornets, Warriors, Clippers, Cavs before finishing up with the Knicks. He averaged 16.1 points and 7.2 assists per game for his career, and was selected third-team All-NBA in 2004.
