Australia has a new WNBA player after Shaneice Swain was selected by the Los Angeles Sparks at the 2023 WNBA Draft.

The 19-year-old UC Capitals guard was taken with the No. 14 pick in the second round and was the only Australian drafted on the night.

Swain joins South Carolina star Zia Cooke on the Sparks, who was selected with the No. 8 pick in the first round and Iowa's Monika Cziano who was taken with the No. 26 overall pick.

In 18 games for the Capitals in the 2022-23 WNBL season, Swain averaged 14.5 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game, shooting 40.9 percent from the field and 36.2 percent from the 3-point line.
