Australian basketball star Joe Ingles has earned himself another payday.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the 35-year-old veteran has agreed to a two-year deal with the Orlando Magic worth $22 million USD ($30,017,000 AUD). 

Ingles spent last season with the Milwaukee Bucks after an eight-year spell with the Utah Jazz. Known for his playmaking and accuracy from 3-point range, he will now join up with a Magic squad that includes reigning NBA Rookie of the Year Paolo Banchero along with several other talented young players.

According to Wojnarowski, Ingles' two-year contract with the Magic will earn him $22 million USD ($30,017,000 AUD).

The forward began his professional career with the now-defunct South Dragons of the NBL in 2006. He spent three years in Melbourne before moving to Spain to play for CB Granada and Barcelona. After one season with Maccabi Tel-Aviv in Israel, he finally made his NBA debut with the Jazz in 2014. He spent eight successful seasons in Utah from 2014 to 2022, and he even holds the franchise record for 3-pointers. 

After a single season with the Bucks, Ingles was a free agent heading into this offseason. However, he quickly found a home. News of his deal with the Magic broke less than two hours after NBA free agency officially began.

According to Spotrac, Ingles has made an estimated $72.5 million USD ($108.8 million AUD) so far in his NBA career. That does not include his new contract with the Magic, which will increase his career earnings to over $94 million USD ($141.1 million AUD).

Through nine seasons of his NBA career, Ingles is averaging 8.5 points, 3.7 assists and 3.2 rebounds per game. 

He has started in 313 of his 636 regular season games, helping the Jazz finish with the best regular season in the NBA in the 2020-21 season. He also dropped a career-high 34 points during a matchup against the Wizards that year.
