The Australian Opals continue their Olympic Games campaign with a matchup against 10th-ranked Serbia on Wednesday night.

Victories over Canada and France in the group stage saw the Opals qualify for the knockout rounds in second place in their group, while Serbia qualified second in their group, defeating China and Puerto Rico, with their only loss coming against Spain.

After a disappointing opening game loss to Nigeria, the Opals have steadily built momentum through the tournament and a win over Serbia will put them on a collision course with Team USA — winners of the past seven gold medals at the Olympics — who face Nigeria in the other quarter-final on their side of the bracket.

"We know on any given day we can beat anybody in this tournament," Opals captain Tess Magden said.

"We are not scared of anyone."
