Alex Ducas set to break college basketball record: Australian guard on verge of most games played for Saint Mary's Gaels image

Australian ballers have been setting the NCAA alight this season, with names like Johnny Furphy, Tyrese Proctor, and Alex Condon all playing huge roles across the United States.

But one player from down under who has continued to make his mark on college basketball for some time now is Alex Ducas, and he is about to claim his most impressive feat yet.

Ducas, a fifth-year senior at the notoriously Australian-friendly Saint Mary's College, is now tied for most all-time in games played for the Gaels, and is set to tie with the current leader at the start of the March Madness tournament.

Alex Ducas set to break Saint Mary's record for most games played

In Saint Mary's West Coast Tournament win over Gonzaga, Ducas tied  Tommy Kuhse for the most games played by a Gael, who between the 2017-18 season and the 2021-22 season played 149 games for the team.

Having won the West Coast Tournament, Ducas and his team will now play in the NCAA Tournament, meaning he will break the record in their first game.

Ducas is in rarified air, having passed names such as Matthew Dellavedova and Jock Landale.
