Daly Cherry-Evans hoses down speculation about Brisbane Broncos move image

For the second time in 12 months, Manly skipper Daly Cherry-Evans has denied he is on the move to the Brisbane Broncos.

Rumours surfaced on social media on Wednesday night that the Broncos were targetting DCE to solve their halfback problems in a shift that makes some sense.

But Brisbane-born Cherry-Evans, who has four years to run on his ‘lifetime’ deal with the Sea Eagles, was quick to shoot the speculation down less than 24 hours later.

"If I'm honest, 12 months ago this exact rumour popped up,” the Australian vice-captain said ahead of Friday night’s Test against New Zealand.

“So again, I'm very flattered that a club with such prestige would chase a player like myself but I am very, very comfortable and very happy where I am at Manly.

“It's nice (to attract interest), but I don't know where it's come from.

"You've just got to laugh it off because I just don't know where it's come from. Obviously social media plays a big part in it.”

When it was suggested Manly coach Des Hasler would have be horrified to see his star champion halfback linked to another club, DCE joked: “Maybe it was Des tweeting about me, trying to get rid of me.

“You never know…Des is a smart man.

“But I’m not sure if he has any Twitter accounts. “
