They didn’t triumph in the 2019 NRL grand final – but the Canberra Raiders continue to win Twitter after releasing their own version of the classic ‘12 Days of Christmas’ song.
The re-worked version, complete with a video, makes light of the ‘six to go’ controversy that marred The Green Machine’s 14-8 loss to the Sydney Roosters in the NRL decider.
With the scores locked at 8-all in the 72nd minute, referee Ben Cummins waived his arm to award the Raiders another set of six tackles but changed his decision in one of the most contentious decisions in NRL history.
It may have cost Ricky Stuart’s men an NRL premiership but the creators of the video found the funny side, including the line ‘Six tooooo gooooooooo’ in their revised lyrics.

The cleverly re-written song also pokes fun at the ‘faulty fireworks’ that almost cost Joey Leilua his place in the qualifying final against Melbourne.
The veteran centre was foced to head back up the tunnel after a stray piece of material from a pyrotechnics machine was lodged in his eye.
Merry Christmas from the Canberra Raiders! 🎅🎄🎁

Young gun Nick Cotric and his preference for a ‘tight T’ also features heavily in the cheeky clip.
