NASCAR gave Jimmie Johnson's No 48 team a written warning Tuesday but did not penalize the team after investigating a possible rules violation during last weekend's Sprint All-Star Race, NASCAR announced.
Johnson's team came under fire as NASCAR looked into whether a pit crew member modified the side skirt on the No. 48 car during a pit stop. NASCAR outlawed side skirt manipulation this year; teams were doing it to increase downforce and improve speed. NASCAR officials determined "the Hendrick No. 48 crew did not make an unapproved adjustment of a body panel during a pit stop late in Saturday night's annual invitational event."

According to the Sprint Cup Rule Book, a team that receives two warnings during two consecutive events faces a P1-level penalty that could include one or more sanctions from NASCAR.
Johnson finished 15th out of 20 racers Saturday at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
"It's not a points race, but certainly we know how much it means to win that race," said Steve O'Donnell, NASCAR executive vice president and chief racing development officer, "but we would maintain the rule book throughout the race."
