Martin Truex Jr. won for the sixth time this season Sunday at the Bank of America 500 at Charlotte Motor Speedway after surviving a pair of late-race restarts and an overtime.

Truex led for just 91 of the 337 laps (three more than the scheduled 334). This is his fifth win on 1.5-mile tracks this season in eight starts. 

Kevin Harvick won Stages 1 and 2, but finished third behind Truex and Chase Elliott.

Truex continues to lead the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series field after his second postseason win. He has build a 34-point advanteage over Kyle Larson with a collection of stage wins, race victories and the regular-season championship. More importantly, Sunday's victory win gives Truex an automatic berth in the Round of 8, which will begin Oct. 29 at Martinsville.

Final results for the top 10: Truex, Elliott, Harvick, Hamlin, McMurray, Suarez, Johnson, Blaney, Kahne, Larson.

Truex wins the Bank of America 500.

Busch exits his car and is being treated by medical staff while lying on the ground before walking to an ambulance. He finished 29th.

McMurray refuses to assess the damage on teammate Larson's car. He doesn't want to be responsible for making the wrong call.

Overtime here at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Caution is back out again after Busch spins into Larson. Truex is way out in front now.

Five laps left after the restart.

Harvick loses four spots.

Nine laps to go and there is a caution out for Busch after he hits the wall again. The damage to his right rear side keeps getting worse. This sets up for a big restart.

Ten laps to go and Truex is still in the lead.

Looks like there is some debris near Turn 1. Nineteen laps to go with Truex trying to hold off Harvick. Harvick is 1.04 seconds behind Truex.

There have been 14 different lead changes so far. 

With 36 laps to go, here's the top 10: Truex, Harvick, McMurray, Kurt Busch, Hamlin, Elliott, Kahne, Larson, Dillon, Blaney.

Busch is requesting medical attention after the race due to the excessive heat in the car.

Big mistake for Larson's pit crew. Tire carrier fell and tripped. 

Caution spin now for Busch.

Patrick heads to the garage. 

Caution out on the track. Danica Patrick and David Ragan have wrecked. Ragan's car pushed Patrick toward the inside of the track and left her with nowhere to go.

A closer look at Truex's pit stop: 

A few stops on pit road and the top five has shifted with 100 laps remaining. Leader is now Hamlin followed by Kahne, Truex, McMurray and Harvick. 

Busch hits the wall again and adds more damange to the right rear. 

A look at the top five at Lap 200: Harvick, Truex, Larson, Elliott, Johnson.

It looks like they will be able to complete Stage 3 without any weather delays.

Top-10 running order at the end of Stage 2: Kevin Harvick, Chase Elliott, Matt Kenseth, Martin Truex, Kurt Busch, Denny Hamlin, Kyle Larson, Jimmie Johnson, Ryan Blaney, Jamie McMurray.

Kyle Busch is still hanging on in 31st. 

Harvick wins Stage 2. 

Gary Gaulding is on pit road with a lot of smoke with 10 laps to go in Stage 2.

Harvick holds a 2.2-second lead over Elliott. 

Harvick puts Busch two laps down and he hits the wall again. There are 17 laps to go in Stage 2.

Busch hits required minimum speed and is now in 31st. Busch says the car is loose; the crew is now preparing for next stop with 30 laps to go in Stage 2.

Busch just went down one lap. His crew is still working on the car on pit road. They worked for more than three minutes on the car. Busch is now in 31st. 

Caution is out for Kyle Busch, who hits the wall hard and now has some smoke and damage over the back right wheel. He heads to pit road where his team has five minutes to fix the car before his day is done. Not sure if he can continue at this point.

Kahne is slow and he heads to pit road for a four-tire change on Lap 124.

Per the NBC broadcast, playoff drivers hold 11 of the top 12 positions. After missing the pit on Lap 37, Larson restarted 31st; he is now back up to fourth.

Busch (currently in second) is winless in 27 starts at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Back to green and Harvick retakes the lead over Busch. There are 56 laps to go in Stage 2.

Update on Moffitt:

Harvick says he's losing grip and his car needs to be tightened up but he maintains the lead off pit road as the caution comes out

Leaders head to pit road and there is now a caution for McDowell.

Keep an eye on this: 

Kyle Busch and Harvick are fighting for the lead. Busch passes Harvick but it is still tight.

Back to green at the start of Stage 2: McMurray, Kyle Busch, Harvick, Larson, Kenseth, Elliott, Johnson, Suarez, Hamlin, Kurt Busch.

McMurray moves into P1 while Moffitt is done for the day.

Kasey Kahne gets a penalty for speeding on pit road. 

Harvick wins Stage 1. 

First 90 laps are wrapping up with Kevin Harvick, Chase Elliott and Jamie McMurray as the top three. Larson battles his way back up to fourth and Johnson is in fifth.

Weather update: 

Harvick takes the leader spot from Elliott on Lap 53.

Trouble for Newman as his car catches fire. He exits his car and it looks like his day is done.

Larson drops to 31st. He apologizes for his team for missing his pit.

Larson takes a chance and it pays off, but only for a short time.

The battle for the lead is heating up between Denny Hamlin and Kevin Harvick. Hamlin has led the first 35 laps before the caution.

Green flag here for Bank of America 500. 

After the start time was pushed up an hour, it looks like the skies might be clear for a while.
