MotoGP returned for the highly anticipated 2023 season with the Portuguese GP at the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve.
Reigning champion Francesco Bagnaia enjoyed a strong start to his title defence as he took the victory for Ducati Lenovo. He won seven races last year to claim top spot ahead of Fabio Quartararo by 17 points.
However, he suffered a crash in Argentina in the second race of the season, for which he admitted he had no explanation. Marco Bezzecchi went on to claim his first MotoGP race win.
In round three at the Circuit of the Americas, Alex Rins was the beneficiary of another Bagnaia crash, with the Italian losing the front end of his bike while leading. Bagnaia responded in style to win in Spain, and he still looks like the man to beat in 2023, although Bezzecchi's victory at Le Mans has made things interesting.
