McLaren unveiled their car for the 2022 F1 season on Saturday morning (AEDT), as they look to take advantage of the sport's new technical regulations.

The MCL36 was on display at a live show from the constructor’s factory in Woking, England, featuring a notable papaya and blue livery.

The design mimics their popular one-off Gulf livery used at the Monaco Grand Prix last year.

Australian driver Daniel Ricciardo teams up with Lando Norris again for McLaren, following the young Brit's recent long-term contract signing.

McLaren will aim to build on a successful 2021 season where they finished fourth in the constructors’ championship which included their first win since 2012, thanks to Ricciardo's victory at Monza.

Ricciardo is in his second season with the team after leaving Renault, and has two years left on his deal.

Speaking at the launch, the 32-year-old is looking forward to the new era of regulations.

“There’s always a nervous excitement around the start of the new season, but that’s turned up to 11 when you enter a new era of regulations," Ricciardo said.

"Having been through several regulation changes now, I feel like I’m able to use that energy to help me adapt to new cars, new ways of driving and ultimately new ways of racing.

“Heading into my second year with McLaren feels great and I feel like we learned a lot as a team in 2021, which will help us as we take on this new challenge.”

The MCL36 is due to make its on-track debut at the first test of the 2022 season at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona, Spain from February 23 to 25.

Bahrain will then host further testing before holding the opening Grand Prix of the season from March 18-20.

The Australian Grand Prix is the third race on the calendar, set to be held between April 8-10 following a two-year absence due to COVID-19.
