Israel Adesanya (24-3) looks to climb the mountain at middleweight for a third time when he faces Dricus du Plessis (21-2) in what shapes as a spiteful UFC 305 main event in Perth on Sunday, August 18.

Du Plessis collected the title when narrowly defeating Sean Strickland back in January, paving the way for Adesanya, born in Nigeria, to face the South African in the biggest all-African bout in UFC history.

Should Adesanya earn the victory, a trilogy fight with Alex Pereira at light heavyweight remains a distinct possibility down the track.

In the chief support, a trans-Tasman showdown sees New Zealand's Kai Kara-France face local boy and recent flyweight title challenger Steve Erceg in a fight with significant ramifications for the division.

Plenty more athletes from this part of the world are in action, with Tai Tuivasa, Dan Hooker, Junior Tafa, Casey O'Neill and Jack Jenkins among a large Anzac contingent.
