Now that Amanda Nunes has retired, the UFC’s bantamweight division is wide open, with the title right there for the taking. A former champion, Holly Holm is ready to return to the top. In her way is rising star Mayra Bueno Silva. They'll meet July 15 inside the UFC’s APEX Center in Las Vegas.
One of the most decorated combat sports stars of all time, Holm is a former world champion in boxing. A Hall of Famer in the sport, Holm's career lasted from 2002-2013, beating the likes of Christy Martin and Mia St. John. “The Preacher’s Daughter” made her MMA debut in 2011 and joined the UFC in 2015.
Holm dethroned Ronda Rousey in 2015 for the UFC bantamweight title in what was considered, at the time, a huge upset. She lost the belt against Miesha Tate and, since the Rousey win, has gone 5-6. Managing to stay in contention, Holm has fought for featherweight and bantamweight gold multiple times, facing the likes of Cris Cyborg and Amanda Nunes.

Holm is 3-1 in her last four, winning her last fight against Yana Santos in March via unanimous decision.
Silva turned pro in 2015 and competed on Dana White's Contender Series in 2018. Including her run on the show, she is 6-2-1 in the octagon. The 31-year-old is on a three-fight win streak, beating Lina Lansberg in her last fight in February via submission.
