Alexa Grasso is ready to fight for gold. If she can take down Viviane Araujo at UFC Vegas 62, she may end up getting her wish.
UFC Vegas 62 takes place inside the UFC’s APEX Center on October 15.
Grasso, joined the UFC in 2017, and is 6-3 with the promotion. After losing to Carla Esparza in 2019, Grasso has gone on a three-fight win streak. She last fought in March, beating Joanne Wood via submission. Valentina Shevchenko has already defended the UFC flyweight title seven times. Grasso believes her time is coming.
“From what I’ve seen at flyweight, all challengers had four consecutive fights, so I’m assuming they’re going to want me to have four straight wins,” Grasso told MMA Junkie. “So maybe it’s just one more fight. All the top girls have already fought her. We’re only missing her upcoming opponent and then it’s me.”

A Pancrase strawweight champion, Araujo joined the UFC in 2019. She is 5-2 with the promotion, her last fight a unanimous decision win over Andrea Lee back in May.
