UFC Denver results: Yair Rodriguez defeats Chan Sung Jung with spectacular KO with one second left image

It was an elbow that slept "The Korean Zombie" ... and it came just in time.

Yair Rodriguez defied the odds at UFC Fight Night 139 by knocking Chan Sung Jung out with one second left in the fight when he connected on a short right elbow that sent "The Korean Zombie" crashing face first to the canvas early Sunday morning.

The scintillating KO tied the UFC record for the latest finish.

The fifth and final round began with Jung and Rodriguez bloody, battered and bruised. Yet, they continued to stand in the middle of the Octagon and trade heavy punches and kicks. In a unique moment, Rodriguez and Jung touched gloves with 10 seconds remaining as a nod of respect to each other for the war that they had for nearly five rounds. But just when it looked like the bout being decided on judges' scorecards was a formality, Rodriguez ducked under Jung's left hand and caught him with a devastating elbow from one of the most unique angles you'll ever see. It was lights out for Jung before he even hit the canvas. How Rodriguez was able to generate that kind of power with a short elbow was nothing short of spectacular.

Had the fight gone to the scorecards, Jung would have likely edged Rodriguez out. It's amazing to think that Rodriguez was able to produce that kind of finish after not fighting since May 2017.

Donald Cerrone submits Mike Perry to break UFC records

Donald Cerrone defeated Mike Perry by submission (armbar) at 4:46 of the first round during the co-main event. With the win, Cerrone broke the UFC record for most wins, with 21, passing George St-Pierre and Michael Bisping. He also broke the record for most finishes, with 15, to surpass Anderson Silva and Vitor Belfort.

Perry came right out and swung a heavy overhand right that missed by a mile. After stufifng three takedowns, Perry scored one of his own. Moments later, Cerrone caught Perry in a triangle choke, but Perry lifted Cerrone in the air. Cerrone stayed calm and flipped Perry over into an armbar. Realizing Cerrone had it cinched in deep, Perry quickly tapped out.
