The Yankees announced Wednesday they've pulled Giancarlo Stanton from his minor-league rehab assignment because of left calf tightness.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters Stanton will be shut down for a week to 10 days.

It's just the latest injury setback for the 29-year-old outfielder, who hasn't played since March 31. Stanton went on the injured list April 1 with a bicep strain, and then dealt with a shoulder issue that required a cortisone shot.

Stanton had just been sent to the Yankees Single-A affiliate in Tampa on Monday to begin a rehab assignment.

The four-time All-Star and 2017 NL MVP had a history of injuries earlier in his career but had been remarkably durable the past couple of seasons, playing in all but seven games the past two years. He hit 38 home runs and had 100 RBIs and a .852 OPS in his first season with the Yankees in 2018.
