Wilson Ramos had a first half worth of an All-Star nod, but his second half will be delayed as the Rays placed their star catcher on the 10-day disabled list with an injured left hamstring.
Ramos suffered the injury last weekend and was forced to miss Tuesday’s All-Star Game. He is expected to be unavailable beyond the July 31 trade deadline, forcing the Rays to consider making a deal to bring in another catcher behind Jesus Sucre.
Catchers Adam Moore, 34, and Nick Ciuffo, 23, are both in Triple-A, but Moore has only played 10 MLB games since 2011, while Ciuffo only has 23 games under his belt at the Triple-A level.
Ramos, in his second season with Tampa Bay, is batting .297 with 14 home runs and 53 RBIs in 78 games.
