MLB trade rumors: Yankees have spoken to Mariners about starter James Paxton image

The Yankees are looking to add a starter.

New York has spoken with the Mariners about a potential deal for James Paxton, according to a report from The Athletic, which cites unidentified league sources. The Yankees are also interested in free agents Patrick Corbin and J.A. Happ, among others, the report says.

Paxton will be under team control for the next two seasons.

The 30-year-old left-hander registered an 11-6 record with a 3.76 ERA in 28 starts for Seattle last season. He struck out 208 and walked 42 in 160 1/3 innings on the mound.

Paxton has spent all six of his MLB seasons with the Mariners. He holds a 41-26 career record and a 3.42 ERA.

The Yankees re-signed starter CC Sabathia to a one-year contract this week. General manager Brian Cashman also told reporters the team is hoping to trade Sonny Gray in the offseason.
