The Yankees have added a starting pitcher.
New York acquired James Paxton from the Mariners on Monday in exchange for left-hander Justus Sheffield, the organization's No. 1 pitching prospect, and minor league right-hander Erik Swanson and outfielder Dom Thompson-Williams.

Paxton is under team control for the next two seasons. The 30-year-old left-hander registered an 11-6 record with a 3.76 ERA in 28 starts for Seattle last season. He struck out 208 and walked 42 in 160 1/3 innings on the mound.
Paxton had spent all six of his MLB seasons with the Mariners. He holds a 41-26 career record and a 3.42 ERA.
The Yankees re-signed starter CC Sabathia to a one-year contract earlier this month. General manager Brian Cashman also told reporters the team is hoping to trade Sonny Gray in the offseason.
The Astros had also reportedly been interested in dealing for Paxton.
