The World Baseball Classic ending with Shohei Ohtani vs. Mike Trout has prepared everyone for baseball season. And it won't be long now until spring training ends and the regular season begins.
The start of the season is upon us, as teams are wrapping up spring training in Arizona and Florida and preparing to return to their stadiums to get the 2023 season underway. Twenty-nine teams will head back eyeing a chance to dethrone the reigning World Series champion Astros, while Houston will look to become the first back-to-back champion since the Yankees' three-peat from 1998 to 2000.
Every season brings its own intriguing storylines, and 2023 is no different. The Mets might have lost Jacob deGrom to free agency and Edwin Diaz to injury, but they signed Justin Verlander and Kodai Senga to bolster the rotation. The Padres keep adding stars as they signed Xander Bogaerts and extended Manny Machado to keep pushing the Dodgers in the West. And how much fun will the Orioles be with a full season of Adley Rutschman and Gunnar Henderson, with Grayson Rodriguez waiting in the wings?
