Infielder Jean Segura has waived his no-trade clause and has officially been traded by the Mariners alongside right-handed pitcher Juan Nicasio and left-handed pitcher James Pazos to the Phillies. Segura and his teammates were exchanged for first baseman Carlos Santana and shortstop J.P. Crawford.

Segura, 28, will be an upgrade for the Phillies in the infield. He can also help Philadelphia offensively. In 2018, he had a .304/.341/.415 slash line with 10 home runs, 63 RBIs, 91 runs scored, and 20 stolen bases in 632 plate appearances.

Segura is under contract through 2022 at $14.25 million per year. The Phillies also have a $17 million club option for 2023, with a $1 million buyout.

Segura is the sixth player Seattle has parted ways with since the beginning of November. The others include James Paxton, Edwin Diaz, Robinson Cano, Mike Zunino and Alex Colome.

Crawford, 23, was the Phillies’ first-round pick in 2013. Last season, he finished with a .214/.319/.393 slash line and hit three home runs in 138 plate appearances.

Crawford suffered an injury that limited him during the second half of the season. He fractured his left hand when he was hit by a pitch in mid-June and made just six starts going forward.
