The Bryce Harper sweepstakes is heating up.

According to USA Today, which cited a person with direct knowledge of the negotiations, the Phillies front office will fly to the coveted free-agent outfielder's hometown of Las Vegas on Saturday to meet him face-to-face.

The Phillies will be represented by owner John Middleton, president Andy MacPhail, general manager Matt Klentak and manager Gabe Kapler when they meet with Harper and his representative, Scott Boras.

Klentak met with Boras during the winter meetings in Las Vegas last month to discuss a potential move, but Harper was not in attendance.

Philadelphia will be the third team to make a run at Harper after he previously met with the White Sox in Las Vegas and the Dodgers in Los Angeles, though reports have suggested the White Sox and Phillies are the only teams willing to offer the veteran a 10-year contract.

There's also the possibility that Harper returns to the Nationals despite already turning down a mammoth 10-year deal worth $300 million with the club last year, as he's met with Nats reps "multiple times" this offseason.
