MLB free agency rumors: Dallas Keuchel, Gio Gonzalez throw simulated games image

Just because they don’t have teams doesn’t mean left-handed pitchers Dallas Keuchel and Gio Gonzalez can’t stay fresh.

Both free agents participated in simulated games Wednesday, with Keuchel throwing 80 pitches (via MLB.com), while Gonzalez took it even further with 107 pitches (via MLB Network).

“[Keuchel’s] going through a full spring training,” agent Scott Boras told MLB.com.

Keuchel, the 2015 AL Cy Young winner, turned down a one-year, $17.9 million qualifying offer during the offseason by the Astros and remains unsigned.

Houston is reported to still have interest in bringing Keuchel back on a one- or two-year deal, but aside from that there’s little noise surrounding the 31-year-old pitcher.

As for Gonzalez, another Boras client, the Brewers, Padres, Athletics and Giants were the latest teams rumored to have interest.

The 33-year-old Gonzalez has started at least 27 games every season from 2010-18 with a 120-86 record and 3.49 ERA in that span.
