David Wright has endured another setback after being diagnosed with spinal stenosis, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reported Saturday.

The third baseman was originally put on the disabled list in mid-April after suffering a hamstring injury. He began having stiffness in his lower back in early May which caused a delay in his return to the Mets. Now, he'll be shut down completely for at least another week and there's no real timetable for his return.

Spinal stenosis is a narrowing of the spinal column. Former Mets outfielder Lenny Dykstra was diagnosed with the same condition and was forced to retire at the age of 35 because of it.

The 11-year veteran had begun participating in baseball activities earlier in the week before dealing with more back stiffness. He was expected to re-join the team in late May.
