Lakers rookie Josh Hart suffered a broken bone in his left hand Thursday (AEDT) and is considering surgical and non-surgical options, according to Yahoo Sports .

Hart, who is averaging 6.6 points and 3.7 rebounds per game this season, suffered the injury during practice. The report said he likely will miss "at least a few weeks."

Though Hart's numbers may seem pedestrian, he had established himself as a key contributor in February. The former Villanova star recorded double-digit points in eight of 10 games this month, while averaging more than 30 minutes per game.

The Lakers (26-34) are 11th in the Western Conference standings entering Thursday's games. Hart's injury should slide Isaiah Thomas, acquired earlier this month from the Cavaliers, into the starting lineup moving forward.
