The truth behind the Munster rumours
There were all sorts of rumours circulating about Cameron Munster before the NRL’s official site declared Storm were prepared to cut him loose.
What we can tell you is that Munster is going through a relationship break-up and it’s turned nasty.
He has removed all photos of himself and his girlfriend from his Instagram account and has found solace at the bottom of a schooner glass on the odd occasion.
There were reports of an incident at a nightclub but it was investigated and nothing came of it.
That’s about the size of it at this stage despite suggestions there is more to the story than we’re being told.
Munster is known as a loose individual and it’s no secret Craig Bellamy has given him several pulls throughs over his off-field behaviour.
He is off with a number of teammates – mainly at rep level – over the way he conducts himself away from the paddock.
Munster is walking a fine line but punting him has not been officially discussed and the Storm are standing by him as his deals with his off-field dramas.
Bellamy knows that if they were to cut him, 15 other clubs would be scratching each other’s eyeballs out to sign him.
Paul Gallen inks exclusive deal
Paul Gallen’s radio and online career has been put on hold after he signed off on an exclusive deal with Channel 9.
Nine will use Gal on their new Monday night show with Gus Gould, the Sunday Footy Show and on NRL and NSW Cup match coverage.
It means an end to the Cronulla skipper’s time at Sky Sports Radio, Triple M and online with us here at Sporting News.
Journos have been told they will now only be able to get the very quotable Gal at post or pre-match press conferences.
It’s just another sign Gallen is set for a very successful post-football career in the media.
Nasty social media attack targets NRL heavy
There’s an ugly – and untrue rumour – doing the rounds in rugby league at the moment causing great distress to the parties involved.
It centres on a member of the media and a well-known player, and the keyboard warriors just won’t let it slide despite being told there is no fire with the smoke.
The ‘story’ almost made it into the public arena this week but thankfully wiser heads prevailed and it remains in the social media gutters for now.
Club boss feeling the heat
It’s only February but already one club CEO is under immense pressure to retain his position.
This bloke loves to shoot his mouth off in the media and can’t get enough of seeing his name in the paper.
The only problem is he often goes off before acceptances and has failed to deliver on other big ticket items.
The club’s board would love to see more action than words in coming months.
