Sam McKendry fought the law and the law – plus insanity, depending on who you ask – won.
McKendry unsuccessfully argued his contact with referee Jared Maxwell during Monday night’s win over the Roosters was accidental and not careless.
An early guilty plea would have also seen the Panthers prop miss Sunday's match against the Sharks, due in part to 41 carry-over points from a previous high tackle charge this season.
However, McKendry decided to fight the charge and lost, copping a one week ban and 150 points.
But wait a minute, what’s this?
No wonder @PenrithPanthers are challenging McKendry's charge. One rule for royalty . . . Another for rank & file! pic.twitter.com/O1G0ymUAin

Adjust your tin foil hats, NRL fans, it’s conspiracy high season.
@TheParraEels vindicated!! McKendry found guilty. Great decision not to gamble our captain @K_Foran at the judiciary roulette wheel.
