The Jarryd Hayne fairytale arguably really began when he pulled on the Fijian jersey at the 2008 World Cup in a campaign that saw the Batis reach the semi-finals before a thrashing at the hands of the Kangaroos.

And while Hayne would go on to switch nations and indeed sports, the current Titan will return to the white strip at the World Cup later this year.
Former Tigers and current Fiji coach Mick Potter has opted to bring in the Blues veteran alongside a handful of talented NRL players including Suliasi Vunivalu, Akuila Uate and Fiji captain Kevin Naiqama.
Unlike Jason Taumalolo who turned his back on New Zealand to represent Tonga, Hayne wasn't picked by Australia thus opening a less controversial door for a return to the Fijian rugby league side.
Hayne, who did play five games for the Fijian Sevens team in the 2016, was born to a Fijian father and clearly cherishes a special relationship with the country.
"Honor (sic) to be selected in the Fiji Bati team for the Rugby League World Cup 2017," he wrote on Instagram.
"Nine years ago we established something very special, not only for our squad but the game of rugby league in Fiji.
"Looking forward to heading over to Fiji tomorrow and enjoying the journey again."
The Fijians will be looking to make the World Cup semi-finals for a third straight time after being drawn in a group containing the United States, Wales and Italy.
