While Greg Bird didn’t get the good news from call from Mal – or any call – he’s confident another opportunity will come up.

“It was disappointing” the NSW and Test firebrand said of missing out on a green and gold jersey. “It’s always a highlight of my year playing rep football and being involved in those sides but at the end of the day I’ll go back and keep trying my best for the Titans and hopefully when Origin comes around I’ll get a look in there.”
“I think my form is right up there. So all I can do is keep working. “
While Bird is happy with his form, it’s not the same for the Titans, having to constantly overcome slow starts this season.
“Obviously, we could be winning more games at the Titans and it might give some of the players a better opportunity to make it.
“I know a lot of the players that have made the team have been from winning teams. “
Bird’s particular brand of aggression – somewhere north of ferocious – is part of why many pencil him in as a representative certainty each year, and he won’t be dialing it down anytime soon.
“I don’t think I can play with any more aggression, I might get in strife, but that’s the way I play the game; give it everything I’ve got and hopefully walk on the right side of fairness.
“There’s another opportunity at the end of the year to vie for one of those Kangaroo spots and hopefully I’ll just keep working my tail off, play good football and earn my spot back there.”
