He may have been the target of a cowardly act after being knocked out cold during his Catalan's sides clash with Leigh, but Australian Greg Bird has been unable to avoid a one-game Super League ban for punching.

In a game that saw Bird targeted while seemingly unconscious by Centurions player Jamie Acton, tempers would flare more than once with four other players including Bird and Acton facing disciplinary charges following the encounter.

Bird has subsequently been handed a one-game suspension after he pleaded guilty to a charge of running in and punching Leigh winger Fouad Yaha.

Acton on the other hand won't discover the length of his suspension until at least July 11 with his case pushed back at the request of his club as they look to prepare for what could be a very costly hearing.
