After a tight first half, which ended 6-2 in favour of the Queenslanders, the Maroons streaked away in the second stanza to take the game 32-8.

Daley said after the match that it was hard for him to feel bitter about the defeat in Game 3 considering how low expectations were before the series began.

New South Wales had already ended Queensland's eight-year Origin run by winning the first two games, but the third fixture was still a high intensity affair.

"I suppose before the first game we've come a long way," Daley said of his feelings at missing out on a whitewash.

"I don't think too many people in this room and outside the room would have given us too much of a chance to win the series, I think we were the longest priced outsiders in the history of Origin.

"So to sit here is pretty sweet, to be honest with you."

Gallen echoed his coach's thoughts, despite his disappointment at the Suncorp Stadium loss.

"You know me, I'm a bit of a sook when we lose," he said.

"Let's be honest, no one gave us a hope at the start of this series.

"I remember talking to friends even, who were saying how are you going to beat them?

"And we did it."

The prop forward also heaped praise on Daley.

"As a captain you're an extension of your coach, I think.

"And I hadn't had much to do with Laurie, and I sat down with him over at North Sydney or somewhere last year and he spoke to me, and I was just so… his passion for the blue jumper and what he wanted to achieve was just unbelievable.

"I know how upset he was and hurt he was last year, and he wasn't going to do this job this year.

"But thank God he did."

Meanwhile, four players were hit with judiciary charges following the fiery series finale.

Canterbury pivot Josh Reynolds is facing up to five weeks on the sidelines for a grade two shoulder charge.

Blues enforcer Greg Bird could miss two matches for a grade one dangerous throw on his Gold Coast team-mate Nate Myles, while Myles was charge with grade one dangerous contact for his elbow to Bird's throat moments later.
